Junior members of Stranraer Academy Student Council taking part in the turf-cutting ceremony.
Councillor Sandra McDowall, Chair of Dumfries and Galloway Education Committee, cut the first turf. Also present were Councillor Roberta Tuckfield, Project Director Gerry Connelly of E4D&G, Head Teacher Norman Dawson and 6th Year Student Council reps Claire Baillie and Tom Cox.

PPP reaches financial closure
The PPP arangement to build phase two of the school and refurbish the existing 'new' building was finally signed today. Work should start this month and be completed for August 2009. D&G press release bbc

7 July 2007 It is expected that a small rise in the cost of school meals will be introduced in August. This will mean that the cost for a 2-course pupil meal will rise by 5p to £1.60.

2 May 2007 The ballot of parents/carers voted to accept the draft constitution. Parents/carers will now be invited to express interest in becoming a member, with up to 14 places available. Clich here for the agreed constitution.
1 May 2007 A preferred bidder has been announced for a £100m project to build nine new schools in Dumfries and Galloway.
Stranraer Academy is in Phase One of the project and work could possibly start as early as October 2007.
