School Aims
It may be too easy to say that what a good parent wants for their child, a school wants for all its students. Nevertheless, the parent quoted below sums up what many of us hope for:
“I want my child to succeed in school, to know that they have succeeded, and to feel good about that. I want the school to like my children, to know them and to appreciate them as I appreciate them, to help them and to believe in them as individuals. I want the school to be safe and to be fair for my children and for other children. I want my children to be content with school, confident and part of a good group of friends. I want the school to be optimistic about the future and to give them real options for what follows in later life. I want the school to help my children grow up to be happy, prosperous, active and decent citizens.”
In 2006, a new set of school aims was agreed, after consultation with parents, pupils and staff:
